Richard Knepper & Associates, Ltd. is a firm dedicated to facilitating mediation and arbitration and educating both lawyers and clients in the process of mediation.

In addition to offering his services as a mediator and arbitrator, Judge Knepper is currently developing a 6 hour seminar for lawyers called "Advocacy in Mediation." The seminar will assist lawyers in dealing with such issues as, why to mediate; dealing with the unreasonable party; dealing with the unreasonable opposing counsel; determining whether and when to mediate; the benefits of early mediation without settlement; selecting a mediator; the mediation process; who should attend the mediation; and preparation of the client for mediation.

Judge Knepper believes that lawyers who litigate cases on a daily basis are very process oriented and, therefore, to feel comfortable with mediation, they must also feel comfortable with the process of mediation. This course will assist those lawyers in expanding their comfort range and providing them the tools they will need when representing their clients in conflict.

Judge Knepper is currently in the process of completing a DVD that the lawyer can purchase to assist him or her in preparing his or her client for mediation. It will include demonstrations of sample mediations, explain to the client the difference between litigation and mediation, and detail, for the client, the advantages the mediation process can provide.
